New GOST regulates the installation of temporary settlements for victims

The temporary settlement of people in a life-threatening situatuion is controled by the national standard since now. EMERCOM has developed an appropriate regulatory document,which will enter into force frovm the beginning of June.
GOST is aimed at establishing the classification and basic requirements for settlement sites of victims of emergencies.The standard applies to the seting up of campgrounds as well as modular buildings.

The standard establishes the necessary requirements, duration, and terms that are spent on an organising the temporary accommodation centres. For instance, it limits the seting up a small capacity settlement (about 250) by only a day. For an average capacity (250-1000 people) two days are allowed. For camps with the largest capacity (from 1000 people) three days and more are allowed. Fire safety was not spared either. In case of this a warning system, alarm system and security should appear in the points.

GOST also provides necessary requirements for the implementation of all sanitary and hygienic standards. The list includes the exact number of toilets and showers, laundries, etc. necessary for a certain number of people. For example, victims have the right to take a shower daily, and they should be able to wash their clothes at least twice a week.

The standard pays special attention to the implementation of a continuous supply of food and drinking water. So it is necessary to prepare special containers for water supply. In addition to food, it is expected that the necessary clothing, footwear and underwear, as well as basic necessities should be provided for victims.
