GOST for informing about emergencies

A national standard will appear in Russia soon, in purpose to inform the population about emergency situations. The official document will come into force only from June 1, 2021. The GOST will establish a certain set of rules that must be followed in life-threatening conditions. It will also determine the procedure for recovering lost documents and receiving payments. The standard was initiated and developed by experts of the Russian Research Institute of Civil Defense and Emergencies EMERCOM of Russia.

People will be able to receive the necessary information by the media and other communication channels. The message will tell about the facts of emergencies appearing, its parameters, scale, affected factors in detail. Moreover, the population will receive information about the measures taken to avert the danger and ensure protection.

All the rights and obligations of persons who is responsible for the transfer of information to the public are detailed by GOST. They are responsible for timely providing information from the emergency area to the media, conducting photo and video reports, and active participating in press conferences. They can also check information for it's accuracy and follow the measures taken by the respective authorities to ensure the safety of people's lives.
